I’m sure we’ve all heard of Major Lazer right?…if not they’re an American electronic music group, who have worked with the likes of Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg and many more. They specialise in a mix of genres varying from reggae, dancefloor, house and basically whatever they want. My personal favourite from Major Lazer would have to be “Too Original” feat. Elliphant & Jovi Rockwell – you should deffo check it out.
With the majority of their numbers, they’re very summer ‘vibed’ with that upbeat, feel-good sort of sense.
So of course when I heard about their announcement of two new singles this summer during their collab with Bacardi rum on ‘The Sound of Rum’ campaign I knew I had to share.
With the help of Bacardi Major Lazer is most definitely kicking of summer, performing their two new tracks exclusively at the event. “Front of the Line” and “Know no Better” with Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello – YES! With the announcement and performance of the two new tunes, they also shared the new that they will be dropping a NEW album very soon. With performances scheduled at festivals across the US and Europe, including Glastonbury and Way Out West (Sweden). – Basically we’re going to be hearing a lot from them this summer, so get your Rum&Coke at the ready.
Major Lazer’s partnership with Bacardi began at the beginning of 2017, when they announced the “Sound of Rum” concept – a relaxed movement of sound that blurs lines between reggae, dancefloor, soca, hip-hop and electronic music, bringing fans of multiple genres all together to enjoy something unique and different together. The launch celebrated the first “Sound of Rum” event with Major Lazer’s brand new track as the highlight, bringing something exclusive that the fans wouldn’t have expected.
The “Sound of Rum” event also gave fans the chance to experience Major Lazer’s Limited Edition Rum by Bacardi, inspired by of course the Caribbean making for the perfect collaboration of sound and alcohol.
The whole event was very much about celebrating the different mix of genres and multi-media, bring people from all walks-of-life to experience this one event together. There’s something pretty special about that, don’t you think?
Please feel free to check out the video from the event below to better understand the feel that the “Sound of Rum” event was all about.
