News Alert: the 90’s wet look is back with vengeance.
Yes the Peter Andre mysterious girl look is all the range with both men and women these days.
Personally I’m a big fan so its great for me. Unfortunately finding the right ‘Wet Look’ product isn’t actually all that easy.
Often dry and crispy or just way to heavy and greasy.
I noticed a little while back a few bloggers had been sent PR samples of ‘GeLEE’ from the Lee Stafford range. Sadly I was not among them. *sniff sniff* I joke of course. Kinda.
I am relatively new to the Lee Stafford range so I didn’t know much, if anything about it. I knew of Lee himself and of course I’ve seen the bright pink packing on the shelves of boots. But as far as actually testing anything out from his range I have not.
Many of the products from the range seem to be aimed at taming/tackling and styling specific hair types, with many of the products enriched with a special ingredient such as ‘aragon oil’. All the items in the range seem to be relatively priced edging towards more of the high-end price point. Oh and they are animal testing free, yipeeee.
I’m a big fan of the packaging. Especially the pink at the moment. The only thing I’m not to keen on with the packaging design is the typography it just seems a little early 2000’s for my liking.
Wet Look GeLEE
What is it?
Plain and simple it’s a wet look styling gel for both men and women, that sets giving a firm and workable hold yet still looking wet. Working best on medium/long length hair. It could also be used on short hair but you may as well just use a normal styling gel.
How to use:
Scoop a generous amount of the product into your palms and then evenly distribute it all over. Paying specific attention to the front, side and roots. This gel can be used on both wet and dry hair. I’ve tried both ways and much prefer using is on wet hair.
Ingredients for all who care:
Aqua (Water), Ceteareth-25, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, VP/VA Copolymer, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, PEG-12 Allyl Ether, PEG-12, Parfum (Fragrance), Buteth-3, Hexyl Cinnamal, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Benzotriazolyl Butylphenol Sulfonate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Coumarin, Tributyl Citrate, Benzyl Benzoate, CI 17200 (Red 33).

So first off I was surprised at the consistency of the ‘Gel’. Because its classified as a gel I thought it would be a more water based formulation but in fact it has an almost identical texture and consistency of your average pomade. That being said I do love the consistency, its makes it a lot easier to evenly distribute and target specific areas.
I have tried it both on wet and dry hair, I much prefer it on wet hair. Simply because it’s a lot easier to apply onto the hair and work into the style you desire. On dry hair it set a lot quicker making it difficult to style.
Since purchasing the ‘GeLEE’ I’ve applied it to my hair almost everyday. It’s such an easy go to product when you can’t really be arsed to blow-dry your hair etc. You just jump out of the shower pop it on then your good to go.
The results are great! I truly love the effect it gives. Often a wet look product can just be greasy and heavy; not with GeLEE. It leaves texture and definition (it can be slick and sleek if you comb it) whilst looking ‘WET’.
I would definitely say that this is a re-workable product, a little splash of water in your hands to just loosen up the product then you can freshen up your style throughout the day.
One downside for me is the scent, this doesn’t affect the product itself. But it is quite a strong scent.
I don’t really think styling products need to be heavily scented. I am aware that this fragrance might be strong to cover the scent of the product itself and I am sure some people love this scent. On a personal level I’m not a fan.
Wet Hair Before Application:
Hair After Application Of GeLEE:
GeLEE is my new favourite styling product. It’s just so easy to use with great long-lasting results. Makes my mornings that much easier cutting out the hairdryer time.
At a price of £5.33 I would 100% recommend giving it a go.
