L’Oréal Paris have finally released their FIRST ever face masks covering all your skin needs. I feel like these mask have been hotly anticipated over the past few weeks on social media and now they’re here and available for all to enjoy.

Each mask contains a blend of three pure clays and its own unique natural ingredient to target a specific skin type.

L’Oréal have cleverly formulated a marketing campaign to promote ‘multi-masking’, prompting you to use each mask on specific areas of your skin creating your own bespoke mask routine. This is actually quite a unique concept, one I haven’t seen other shop branded masks latch on to.

In store displays have included flyers explaining the masks and their key aspects, they also have included: three press applicator tabs to lightly press against areas of your skin to decide which mask is best suited for you depending on the results.

I tried out all three masks with full facial application. These are my thoughts:

Packaging

I couldn’t, not point out my appreciation towards the packaging. Glass jars with mint green metallic lids. Aaaah they are just bliss. Very instagram friendly.

Purity Clay Mask

P7090131 P7090150

Purity Clay Mask (50ml currently £5.00)

The most fluid of the three. Purity clay mask is blended with Eucalyptus to delve deep into pores to kill off nasty bacteria and purify, leaving the skin matt and supple.

Skin Type:

Great for those with an oily complexion (like myself) and suffer from the occasional outbreak.

How to apply:

After cleansing your skin, apply a thin layer evenly all over your face (or targeted area). Leave for 5-10 mins then rinse off gently with warm water.

Whats inside?

  • Koalin – A natural clay that is known to absorb impurities and excess sebum.
  • Montmorillonite – High in minerals it helps to eliminate skins impurities..
  • Ghassoul – A pure clay highly concentrated in minerals clarifies the skin instantly showing a purer and clearer complexion.
  • Eucalyptus Leaf Extract – A holy grail ingredient, helps as an anti-bacterial and a anti-inflammatory, great for breakout skin.

Thoughts:

My personal fave out of the three, which makes sense as this is best suited for my skin type. The scent is very pleasing; spa like.

After initial application I could feel the clays and eucalyptus taking immediate effect, a slight sting told me it was penetrating deep into my pores helping to rid that excess oil and dirt. As you can see on the images above the oil has been pulled out of my pores.

After, my skin felt soft and refreshed. My shiny head stayed at bay for the day giving me a matt complexion anyone would be happy to brag about.

I would recommend using twice a week, but for those with severely oily complexions maybe three to four. I can also see this being great for application on to individual spots to help take away some of the redness.

Detox Clay Mask

Detox Clay Mask (50ml currently £5.00)

The mask that kicks ass. We’ve all heard the hype over the past few years about Charcoal, from brushing our teeth to detoxifying our insides. So whats the big deal? Charcoal acts like a magnet to draw out impurities and toxins. This mask is designed to clarify normal, congested skin.

Skin Type:

Normal complexions.

How to apply:

After cleansing your skin, apply a thin layer evenly all over your face (or targeted area). Leave for 5-10 mins then rinse off gently with warm water.

  • Montmorillonite – High in minerals it helps to eliminate skins impurities..
  • Ghassoul – A pure clay highly concentrated in minerals clarifies the skin instantly showing a purer and clearer complexion.
  • Charcoal Powder – charcoal works as a natural magnet to toxins and impurities, pulling out all the nasties hiding below the skin.

Thoughts:

Well I don’t have ‘normal skin’ so take that into consideration. But I’m always a fan of charcoal masks, their magnetic properties work great for those with oily skin, especially those who suffer from blackheads.

This one was no exception, my face felt clean and soft after application. As you can see in the images it pulled out the oil from my pores (like the purifying mask). Althought I definitely didn’t feel the deep penetration.

Once again a very pleasing spa like scent.

All you folk with normal complexions (I envy you) give this one a go!

Glow Clay Mask

Glow Clay Mask (50ml currently £5.00)

Thickest consistency of the three. Filled with Red Algae to help exfoliate whilst illuminating dull, uneven skin tone.

Skin Type:

Dull Skin that needs a pick me up.

  • Red Algae – Has proven ability to enhance skin’s barrier function, replenish the skin’s hydration whilst also helping increase its moisture-retention.
  • Apricot Seed Powder – A natural exfoliant to help buff away dead skin.

Thoughts:

Sadly, I am not a fan. I can see this mask working wonders on those with more mature skin that needs a-wake-me-up and a little bit of life brought to it. But for me all I really gained was a little bit of exfoliation when rinsing it off. Oh and looking like a man from mars for a few minutes.

Once again another pleasing spa like scent.

Last words:

Even if I didn’t really enjoy the Detox mask and love the Purifying mask I would still be very happy to own all three of these very pleasing to the eye jars of mask. I don’t know why but that mint green metallic just gets me every-time.

That being said I will 100% be repurchasing the purifying mask especially while it’s on offer for £5.00 at boots. However the shelves were looking pretty sparse when I went, in fact this was the last purifying mask they had so be quick! Before they go back to their original price.

I was surprised when I found out this was L’Oréal’s first mask adventure (of course there is masks available form the subsidiaries under the L’Oréal house brand) and they’ve done a cracking job. Well done L’Oréal, I’m sure you will all rest happy now that you know, you have my approval.

Cya L8r alligator,

Jack.
