[Skin Type: Oily Combination]

Suffer from oily skin like me? Don’t worry Kiehl’s have you covered with their Rare Earth range.

Oil free/mattifying moisturiser are great but on their own they only go so far. Personally I feel its important to have a good foundation for it to lie on, that’s when the Rare Earth range comes in.

The Cleanser

Rare Earth Deep Pore Daily Cleanser (150ml £18.00)

A creamy foaming cleanser helps absorb and clear excess oil and reduce the appearance of pores. Created with Amazonian White Clay, gently removing debris, toxins to purify and thoroughly cleanse.

Skin Type:

Great for oily combination complexions and those suffering with breakouts.

How to Apply:
– Apply a pea sized amount of the formula to damp skin (or directly to a Clarisonic like myself – see why I use a Clarisonic HERE).
– Gently massage in upward circular motions around the face and neck area.
– Splash off with warm water, then pat dry.
– Follow on with Rare Earth Toner.
– Avoid eye area

Whats inside?

  • Oat Kernel Meal – Natural exfoliant that absorbs surface oil. Works as an anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory on sore skin.
  • Amazonian White Clay – Purifying and detoxifying the skin. Helps to remove bacteria, toxins, excess oil and dead cells that can clog skin resulting in nasty blackheads.
  • Aloe Barbadensis – Derived from the Aloe Vera plants helps soothe irritated skin.

Full Ingredients List:

Water, Kaolin, Glycerin, Alcohol Denat., Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate, Coco-Betaine, Acrylates Copolymer, Sodium Chloride, Titanium Dioxide, Diatomaceous Earth, Phenoxyethanol, PEG-14M, Glycol Distearate, Sodium Benzoate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Salicylic Acid, Oat Kernel Flour, Tocopherol, Sodium Hydroxide, Allantoin

Thoughts:

A brilliant cleanser for those with oily complexions. Use every morning to help maintain the levels of oil produced throughout the day.

I only use this cleanser once a day because of its drying properties. If you suffer from breakouts due to your oily complexion then I suggest using this in conjunction with the Kiehl’s Blue Herbal cleanser at night, it’s the best spot tackling cleanser I’ve found.

The Toner

P7030093

Rare Earth Pore Refining Tonic (250ml £18.00)

A ‘mattifying’ toner that absorbs excess oil from the surface of the skin while penetrating deep, helping kill bacteria and all the nasties causing breakouts. Refines the look of pores making them seem smaller. Leaving skin with a healthy glow.

Skin Type:

Great for oily combination complexions and those suffering with breakouts.

How to Apply:
– Shake well before applying because of natural separation.
– Apply generous amount of toner directly to the palms and lightly pat over face and neck (or apply formula with a cotton pad, but I don’t feel like this works as well).
– Once dry dust off any excessive amounts of clay left behind, then follow on with your choice of moisturiser (personal fave of mine is the Kiehl’s Oil Eliminator lotion).

– Avoid the immediate eye area.

Whats Inside?

  • Allantoin and Witch Hazel Water – Helps soothe inflamed skin.
  • Amazonian White Clay – Absorbs excess oil ‘mattifying’  the skin.
  • Salicylic Acid – Penetrates deep into the skin to help kill bacteria causing those nasty breakouts.

Full Ingredients List:

Water, Alcohol Denat, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Silica, Zinc Oxide, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Kaolin, Methylparaben, Zinc Gluconate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Oat Kernel Flour, Menthoxypropanediol, Witch Hazel Water, Allantoin, Salicylic Acid

Thoughts:

This toner has been a life saver for me. I no longer walk around looking like a shiny egg all day. I do still carry around oil absorbing pads, just incase. Since using this toner my oil production has drastically reduced. All the while helping to clear up those small amounts of breakout I get every now and again.

I love how quick and easy it is to use, no need for faffing on with cotton pads, Plus none of that extra wasted toner absorbed in by the cotton pads!
